Orion the Hunter and Point of View

Last night, under a crystal clear night sky, I was marvelling at the beauty of Orion the Hunter. Admittedly, it’s one of the few constellations I readily recognize. I started to wonder how far away from me each of the stars in Orion were. Earthlings have grouped this particular collection of stars together for ages, but it struck me that their individual distances from the Earth were probably vastly different.

To an observer in a distant galaxy, Orion the Hunter would not exist, even in this same collection of stars.

Point of View … what a concept!
